This course is designed for PhD students with a B1 level of English proficiency, focusing on the language skills needed for effective communication in professional contexts.
Through interactive, scenario-based activities, students will build confidence in professional communication while expanding their vocabulary and fluency.
The course is organised into five thematic chapters:
Introductions: Develop skills for self-presentation and building rapport in professional settings.
Professional Meetings: Gain the language tools to participate in, organise, and lead meetings with clarity and professionalism.
Conference presentation: Develop skills for conference presentation.
Emails: Master the art of writing structured, polite, and effective emails tailored for professional purposes.
Small Talk: Enhance conversational skills for informal interactions, fostering connections and building professional relationships.
The course comprises six sessions in total, with the second chapter (Connecting, Planning, and Guiding) spanning two sessions to allow for in-depth practice and mastery. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with practical English skills to manage a variety of professional scenarios with confidence and clarity.
